2022 Mystery Shop Inspections Have Begun

Cenex Retail Excellence Daily (RED) Inspections began on June 1! Mystery shoppers will evaluate the interior and exterior of your store to help you gain valuable insight into your customers’ experience.
As you continue to get ready for mystery shoppers to arrive, please see FAQs below to help you prepare:
Q: When will this round of mystery shops be held?
A: Mystery shops will be administered between June 1, 2022 – September 30, 2022.
Q: What is the passing threshold?
A: The passing threshold is 90%.
Q: Will there be the option to receive points back for incorrect elements?
A: Yes. You will have the ability to earn points back for incorrect elements via the Inquiry process.
Q: Where do I submit an Inquiry?
A: Inquiries are submitted on the Mystery Shop online reporting portal. All users with access to the Mystery Shop portal can submit an Inquiry.
Q: What questions can I submit an Inquiry for?
A: All scored questions with the exception of the two customer service questions (listed below) are eligible to receive points back via the Inquiry process.
- Was your cashier wearing a Cenex or store brand logo on his/her name tag, shirt, jacket, apron, or cap, etc.?
- Were all employees behaving professionally and courteously during your visit?
Q: When does the window to submit inquiries close?
A: Inquiries can be submitted starting June 1, 2022 with the last date to submit October 31, 2022.
Q: What information is needed to submit an Inquiry?
A: To submit an Inquiry, you need a photo of the corrected element(s) and an explanation of the work that was done to remedy the incorrect element. Once the photo has been submitted, it will be assessed to ensure the infraction has been resolved and points will be returned. View the instructions to submit an Inquiry.
Q: What if I score a 100%?*
A: Any site(s) that scores a PERFECT 100% will receive the honor of becoming a Cenex STAR Store! STAR Stores will receive a FREE marketing kit which will include marketing materials and recognition to promote their status as a STAR store.
*Please note, STAR Stores are reserved for locations that receive 100% without Inquiry point adjustments.
