Pinnacle and CHS officially announce the release of Pinnacle Palm Rev. G, which is the latest update for your Palm POS. Among other enhancements, Palm Rev. G will provide the long-awaited features of processing indoor EMV debit and credit.

This software release also changes the way your Palm communicates with the credit network. Previously, you utilized an Abierto box which converted your analog phone communication to Internet Protocol (IP). With this upgrade, your device will now communicate using only IP. To stay PCI compliant, this type of communication requires a PaySafe UTM managed firewall.

The PaySafe UTM firewall, when installed correctly, provides the security requirements to assist in maintaining your PCI-DSS compliance. Along with the security features, it also includes a cellular backup connection in case your store’s internet goes down. Gone are the days of an analog phone line. If you have a dedicated phone just for your Palm, you will no longer need it.

The deadline to install Palm Rev. G is May 15, 2018. A $250 POS software out-of-date fee will be assessed if the Palm isn’t upgraded by then.
