Gilbarco and CHS officially announce the release of Passport version 11.02, which is the latest update for your Passport POS. Among other enhancements, V. 11.02 will provide the long-awaited features of processing EMV debit and credit.

This software release also changes the way your Passport communicates with the credit network. Previously you utilized an Abierto box which converted your analog phone communication to Internet Protocol (IP). With this upgrade, your device will now communicate using only IP. To stay PCI compliant this type of communication requires a PaySafe UTM managed firewall.

The PaySafe UTM firewall, when installed correctly, provides the security required to maintain your PCI-DSS compliance. Besides the security feature, it also includes a cellular backup connection in case your store’s internet goes down. Gone are the days of an analog phone line. If you have a dedicated phone just for your Passport, you no longer need it.

The deadline to install Passport V. 11.02 is June 15th, 2018, at which time a $250 out of date software fee will be assessed.
